West Midlands Accountants Join Forces

Pilley & Florsham, a Coventry firm of chartered certified accountants, joined forces with Raftery & Co, a firm of chartered accountants in Solihull, to form the new Prime Chartered Accountants Group.

Prime Chartered Accountants has six partners, a combined staff of 50 and more than 2,500 clients, mainly comprising SMEs and owner-managed companies, according to Laurence Moore, a partner with Pilley & Florsham who has been appointed chairman of the new Prime group.

Mr Moore, who also became managing partner of the newly-named Prime Pilleys in Coventry, said: “The new group will have a breadth and depth of expertise in all areas that is equal to any in the region. It is because both firms enjoy a well-earned reputation that we are able to attract not only high-profile clients, but also top calibre staff.”

He said that the combined size of the group would make it a major player in the region south of Birmingham and would provide them with more opportunities to extend their services.

“There is so much combined talent and this merger means that all the specialists in both firms will now be brought together in one group for the benefit of both sets of clients. For example, in addition to the core business of accountancy and business advice, there are specialist departments for payroll, tax, charities and forensic accounting, which will now be available to all clients as part of a more comprehensive service,” said Mr Moore.

John McDonald, who became managing partner of the newly-named Prime Raftery in Solihull, said that Raftery & Co was similar in size to Pilleys and shared the same aims. “Like Pilleys, we are committed to ensuring prompt response to the specific needs of clients and to providing a service that is personal, as well as highly professional. These common desires will ensure the group’s commitment to attaining a good understanding of our clients’ businesses and of their broad commercial objectives, which we believe is vital in today’s business climate.”
