Spam emails claiming to be from HMRC

Prime Accountants Group are advising clients to be extra careful when opening SPAM emails. We have recently received multiple spam emails claiming to be from HMRC with the subject “Tax Refund Invoice #38293812”

The body of the email varies but is similar to the following;

- Download the Tax Refund attached to this email
- Open it in a browser
- Follow the instructions on your screen

NOTE: A refund can be delayed a variety of reasons , for exemple submitting invalid records or applying after deadline”

This email is spam and requests the recipient to complete an online form which requires enough information about your Credit/Debit card to impersonate you. If you receive one of these emails please delete it.

Please be very wary of any email claiming to offer a refund of any sort – especially ones that require all the personal details you’d be expected to enter to purchase goods.

If you have received an email and are unsure if it is legitimate or not please feel free to forward this to us and we would be happy to advise.
