Incorrect HMRC demands for underpaid tax
It has come to our attention this morning that HMRC have issued incorrect demands for underpayment of tax in respect of the tax year ending 5 April 2013 to a number of employees.
The issue appears to be attributable to HMRC’s internal systems where they have duplicated some employee/employer records under RTI.
Our Payroll manager, Kerrie Lucas, has spoken to HMRC, and the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals. The issue has been escalated with HMRC’s technical team to ensure they act on this, fix the problem and ensure employee records are corrected.
Our payroll team have been taking calls this morning from both employers and concerned employees.
If you or one of your employees has received a letter from HMRC and you would like to talk to our payroll team, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 02476 518 555.
