Increasing the opportunity to disclose

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have announced the latest of their disclosure facilities this time targeting those with assets or investments in Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey. The disclosure facility is open from 6 April 2013 until 30 September 2016, and should people make a voluntary disclosure in this timeframe they will receive preferential terms.

Cyber attacks on small businesses rise

There has been a drastic rise in the number of Cyber attacks on small businesses this year.
According to research that questioned 1,402 UK organisations of all sizes in both public and private sector 63% of small businesses have been attacked by an “unauthorised outsider”. 9% of small businesses know that outsiders have stolen their intellectual property or confidential data in the last year (up from 4% a year ago).

Employer NIC holiday

The employer National Insurance contributions (NIC) holiday is still open to employers until 5th September this year. Having opened to new businesses on 22nd June 2010 the NIC holiday allows for a deduction of up to £5,000 on the employer NICs that normally would be due – for each of the first ten employees they take on.
