Payroll RTI system

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has warned that the RTI reporting system will be ‘at best unrealistic and at worst impossible’ for small employers. This is despite HMRC publishing proposals explaining when employers will be allowed up to an extra seven days to send some information to HMRC.

Simpler Health and Safety guidance

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched an online 'Health and Safety Toolbox' aimed at smaller, low-risk businesses. It is hoped that the Toolbox, which can be accessed from the right hand side of the HSE’s home page, will make it quicker and easier for small businesses to find the information that applies to their industry. This should enable them to manage health and safety issues themselves, without the need to use health and safety consultants.

VAT: Amended certificates of registration

HM Revenue & Customs is updating their VAT systems. If you are currently VAT registered then HMRC may need to make a small change to the way they record your address. This is to ensure the data HMRC holds is consistent and is not a cause for concern, but you may receive an amended certificate of registration (VAT 4).

When contemplating doing business with a new customer or supplier it is important to check them out, to minimse the risk of a bad debt or interruption of the supply of goods or services to your business.

Prime supports charity

Recently Prime has participated in a variety of activities in order to raise money and support different charities. On 26 October we raised £92.83 for breast cancer research by partaking in a “wear it pink day” and all our employees wore their best pink outfits around the office.
