Autumn Statement 2012

The Autumn Statement was delivered by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, on Wednesday 5 December at 12.30pm, and an update with significant changes was announced on 11 December when much of the draft legislation for the Finance Bill 2013 was issued for consultation.

VAT registration threshold no longer due to those not established in the UK

A decision in the European Court of Justice has confirmed that only businesses established in a Member State can benefit from its domestic VAT registration threshold.

A survey of 1,000 employers and 2,000 employees (Labour Market Outlook: Focus on pension auto- enrolment) conducted by the CIPD has found that pension auto-enrolment could make a huge difference to the number of workers saving for retirement.

Changes to form P45

HMRC is to amend the P45 form: Part 3 will be withdrawn and a new employer will no longer need to return Part 3 to HMRC.

Changes to VAT online services

HMRC have announced various changes to their online services including the introduction of the VAT online registration service which was promised earlier this year.
