Solihull Chamber News Column - 17th August 2017
We, as businesses in Solihull have a growing ambition for our borough. That is - the creation of sustainable jobs and commercial space which will drive our economy forward. It would be great to gain back our title as the ‘best place to live in the UK’. The Quality of Life Index conducted by energy comparison site, Uswitch.com was lost to Edinburgh in 2015. So the plans for creating a new mixed use destination for the HS2 Interchange Station on the 350 acre site known as Arden Cross are exciting.
Situated at Junction 6 of the M42 motorway, adjacent to Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre where major plans are already being implemented, the infrastructure will include a new fully connected urban quarter with the HS2 Interchange Station at its heart.
Changes range from altering bridges, moving roads and creating new landscape features to revising car park layouts, incorporating pedestrianised connections and making provisions for other future public transport links.
I look forward to being able to take advantage of what I hope will be an excellent transport system for our borough.
