Prime Accountants Group takes its role within the wider community seriously and has been involved in a number of fundraising and charity projects throughout recent years. We recognise that, as a local business, we have a responsibility to benefit society at large.
Since 2011, Prime have had a nominated charity who we actively fundraise for. Each charity has been selected by our employees who work together to raise funds over a two year period.
Throughout 2011 and 2012 Prime raised over £3,000 for the National Association of Crohn’s and Colitis through holding a quiz night and dress down days across the Prime offices in Coventry and Solihull.
In 2013, Prime introduced the first of their charity challenges which saw Prime employees and guest riders cycle to all 62 golden postboxes nationwide over a three month period, raising £30,000 for Macmillan.
Prime continued to raise funds for Macmillan throughout 2014 by hosting dress down days, lunch swaps, quiz nights, bake sales and sporting challenges – bringing the fundraising total up to £40,000 by the end of 2014.
In 2015, Prime masterminded the second of their charity challenges to raise vital funds for nominated charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Taking the classic 3 peaks challenge two steps further, the firm introduced the 3P’s challenge – a gruelling combination of pedals, paddles and peaks. Prime took part in a variety of fundraising activities and in total raised an impressive £25,000 for Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
Prime took a different approach to our charity selection process this year and instead employees voted to support a local charity in both Coventry and Solihull. As a result, the nominated charities for 2017/18 are SoLO in Solihull and Zoe's Place in Coventry.
Other social responsibility projects that Prime are involved in to support local businesses are:
Albany Theatre, Coventry
The Albany Theatre is an impressive Art Deco style theatre that first opened its doors to the public in 1935. In 2009 the theatre closed after the site in which it was based was acquired by developers of the City College. After receiving much needed help from Coventry City Council and a number of dedicated volunteers, the theatre reopened its doors on 1st February 2013.
The 650 seat theatre now boasts safe and updated equipment, an impressive array of dressing rooms, new sound and lighting systems and a full height fly tower
Since the relaunch of the theatre, Prime have played a proactive role in hand-holding this community based project through its early days and performances.
Prime Director and Chairman, Laurence Moore, currently sits on the board as the Finance Director. The Prime Virtual Accounts Office team act as the theatre’s accounts department and are responsible for all day-to-day activity including book-keeping (using Xero), managing payments to suppliers, reconciliation of money received and payouts to hirers of the theatre, providing an online purchase order system for theatre volunteers as well as regular management information reports for board meetings.
Recently Laurence has been instrumental in securing 10,000 sq ft of space for the trust. In order to secure the space the Trust had to get support of Coventry City Council to underwrite the lease by showing that the trust is run in a financially prudent way. Laurence’s role was key in this and as a result of his efforts the people of Coventry will have access to a wider range of Arts facilities in the context of the Trust’s ‘Arts for Life’ agenda.
Arden School – Solihull
Prime offer Arden School students the opportunity for work experience placements throughout school holiday periods. Interested students have to apply in school and then go through a selection process.
Successful candidates receive one week work experience gaining a valuable insight into our accounts, tax, marketing and business services teams.
Prime also work closely with the school of Health and Safety, Safeguarding and pastoral care issues to ensure the students get the best real life working experience in a safe and caring environment.
Prime have supported Solihull College for many years. The ‘Prime Chartered Accountants Award’ is presented to a student that exceeds expectations throughout the course of their studies. Each year Prime are extremly impressed with the achievements of the students and feel lucky to be able to recognise their commitment and dedication to their studies.
