August 2009 Newsletter

FOREWORD

WELCOME TO PRIME CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS AUGUST E-NEWS.

With the holiday season upon us, we’ve purposely kept this e-news short.

In this issue we provide a reminder that all Class 1A National Insurance Contributions were due on 19 July 2009 and what you should do if you are still to pay.

With swine flu still very much being covered by the media, we’ve included details of a free event hosted by Solihull Chamber of Commerce and Solihull NHS Care Trust, giving businesses the opportunity to come and listen to what the actual situation is for the local area as well as what measures can be taken to protect themselves and their employees.

We introduce Prime Technology, a new service designed to assist small and medium sized businesses with business continuity and minimizing risk – see our article below for more information.

As always, if you require any further information or require specific assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Have you paid your Class 1A National Insurance Contributions?

Employers who have completed forms P11D for the tax year 2008/09 should have paid the Class 1A National Insurance Contributions (NICs) on any benefits in kind by 19 July 2009. We have become aware that a significant number of businesses have not yet paid their Class 1A NIC liability. Any unpaid NICs will attract a daily interest charge.

Penalties can be charged where forms P11D have not been submitted and no payment of Class 1A NIC has been made.

H M Revenue & Customs have recently issued statements to employers who have a shortfall of Class 1A NIC. We recommend that any amount outstanding is paid as soon as possible. If you have not yet received a payslip and you have an outstanding Class 1A NIC liability, please send a cheque to HMRC,Accounts Office, Bradford, BD98 1GG.

Please write the Accounts Office reference number on the back of the cheque.

More details can be found here.
